At any given time we all know at least one person suffering from hair loss. We may even be experiencing it ourselves. It can be a highly stressful condition to endure for some people. There are several common causes and if you are aware of them you may be able to prevent hair loss.

Nutrition plays a key role when it comes to health of your hair. The lack of essential vitamins and minerals can cause hair loss even at a very early age. To prevent hair loss due to poor nutrition you should strive to eat a well balanced diet on a daily basis. Make sure to consume the proper portions of all the food groups and eat plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables to not only maintain hair health but good health overall.

One of the biggest causes of hair loss is stress. If you can not cope with stress properly your entire body suffers and your hair is not immune from this. Find healthy and productive ways to deal with anger and stress by employing simple techniques you can add to your every day life. Exercise is one of the best ways to deal with stress for many people. Try working out or going for a walk when you encounter a stressful situation that seems like too much for you to handle.

Pony tails and other restricting hair styles can also cause hair loss for many people. It puts a constant strain on the hair resulting in damage and in most cases hair loss around the area being held by the restrictive bands. Alternate your styling methods with several that don't require your hair to be pulled back tightly.

Hair styling tools as well as perms and hair dyes also take a toll on your hair. All the manufactured chemicals and extreme heat are just too much for the hair shaft. Repeated use can cause the hair to eventually start thinning.

One of the side effects of certain medications can also be hair loss. If you noticed thinning hair shortly after beginning a new prescription you can seek advice from your doctor on other options for treatment or ways to prevent the ill side effect.

Certain health conditions can also effect the health of your hair. You should get a physical at least once a year so medical problems can be caught early by your doctor before problems are presented. This should only be one of the many reasons you get check-ups to maintain your overall health.

If you are currently experiencing hair loss problems you should use these causes as a check list before giving up all hope. You may be surprised at what small thing is causing your problem and if corrected could possibly even be reversible in many situations.
